Balatro scores your hands using a straightforward mathematical equation: Total Chips multiplied by your Multiplier. The crucial insight that separates novice players from Ante 8 victors is the difference between additive multiplier (+Mult) and multiplicative multiplier (×Mult). Additive Mult adds a flat sum to your multiplier, whereas Multiplicative Mult multiplies your entire accumulated multiplier by that number.

In the early Antes (Ante 1 and 2), refrain from rerolling the shop unnecessarily. Reach the $25 interest threshold as quickly as possible, and only spend income generated above $25.
